Rainforest-themed Sigg Cuipo Bottles review

Last year, I blogged about SIGG bottles and how switching to reuseable bottles is one very simple step that you can make to help start protecting the planet. As SIGG explain :

- In the UK alone 250,000 plastic bottles are dumped every hour.

- Plastic bottles constitute close to 50% of recyclable waste in landfill sites.

- Plastic not only adds to landfill space and takes 500 years to decompose but used plastic dumped into the sea kills and destroys sea life at an estimated 1,000,000 sea creatures per year!

That's already a really good eco-friendly reason to switch to SIGG bottles but they've gone one step further with their new range, produced in collaboration with Cuipo, a social enterprise working to protect and preserve the world's endangered rainforests. Not only do you get some really funky rainforest-inspired designs, you also get an activation code with your bottle enabling you to log on to Cuipo and see the square metre of rainforest, totally unique to you, that you have saved by purchasing a SIGG Bottle. As SIGG explain on their Facebook page, one square meter of rainforest = 1 monkey, 10 plants and hundreds of insects. As well as doing your good deed for the planet, it's really educational if you log on your GPS coordinates with the kids and go discovering a bit more about the rainforest.

If you're quick, there is currently a competition on their Facebook page where you can win a complete set of 4 SIGG Cuipo Bottles by entering their drawing competition. There are three age groups - up to 8 years, 9 to 16 years and 17 years and above - and you can upload your drawing of anything related to the rainforest. You only have until the 30th April to enter though so you'll have to get your skates on !
