Pony Flag Race Lottie doll review

Whenever the opportunity arises to review a new doll, I never even have to ask Juliette if she's interested because it goes without saying. When I read about the new range of Lottie dolls and was asked to decide which one she'd like to receive, I did need some input from her. Would she prefer the funky Lottieville Festival Lottie, the elegant Snow Queen Lottie or the beautiful Spring Celebration Ballet Lottie ?

Well, no, the one she picked was the sporty Pony Flag Race Lottie, because she thought it would be ideal for playing with on her Liv Nutmeg horse. Lottie is actually considerably smaller than the usual Barbie/Bratz/Liv dolls, measuring 18cm, but she still fits on the horse and Juliette has been having great fun reenacting pony races and showjumping and horserides in the country !

It does mean that most dolls clothes that you already own will be too big for her but Juliette has been dressing her up in over-long dresses and saying she looks like a princess or a mermaid because you can't see her feet ! The Pony Flag Race Lottie already has quite a few accessories to begin with anyway - a helmet, boots, T-shirt, bodywarmer, flag and a pony patch that unfortunately lost its Velcro on the first day she was played with.

Juliette commented on how soft and unknotty her hair is and, having looked on the website, they mention the "high quality Japanese hair that is soft and very strokeable". She has ball socket arms and legs so she is very flexible and can even do the splits (frontways and sideways - Juliette was highly impressed !). Her knees can also be bent and click into position and her head moves from side to side. Juliette said I also had to mention her beautiful big blue eyes with a sparkle in !

Pony Flag races aren't the only things that Lottie has been winning lately. The dolls just scooped a number of awards - Silver medal in the UK Independent Toy Awards 2012, Preferred Choice Award for the Kids Toy Category in Creative Child Magazine Awards USA 2012 and Highly Commended in the UK Rainbow Awards For Toy Excellence 2012. For a startup, self-funded British company taking on the big doll manufacturers, I think that's pretty impressive. Juliette adds the Madhouse Seal of Approval too !
