Frighteningly Easy Halloween Treats from Philadelphia



The Philadelphia Press Office always come up with a great selection of themed recipes for all occasions. 

Here are a lovely selection for Halloween. Your kids will love them and you could even offer them to the trick or treaters in place of the usual sweets .Enjoy !

It’s that time of year again when you might be haunted by the thought of looming trick-or-treaters, but this year, put away the same old sweets and make your house stand out from the crowd with the perfectly ghoulish goodies!

Whether you need tasty treats or a meal for all the family, Philadelphia, the UK’s number cream cheese, has plenty of Halloween themed recipes to delight your guests. From toffee (minus the apple) to boo-tiful chocolate fairy cakes, these quick and easy recipes from Philly are sure to satisfy little ghosts and ghouls this Halloween.



Trick-Or-Treats 



Philly Cheesecake Brownies To Die For

Serves: 12
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time:: 40 minutes
Total time:: 50 minutes
125 g butter
125 g dark chocolate, chopped
200 g brown sugar
3 eggs, lightly beaten
50 g plain flour, sifted
50 g cocoa powder
0.25 tsp baking powder
200 g Philadelphia Light
50 g caster sugar
1.
Combine butter, chocolate and brown sugar in a medium saucepan and stir over medium heat until chocolate and butter have melted. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs.
2.
Add flour, cocoa, and baking powder and stir until well combined. Pour into a greased and lined 18cm x 28cm rectangular tin.
3.
Beat Philly and caster sugar until smooth and creamy. Spoon randomly over chocolate mixture and swirl with the tip of a knife. Bake at 180ºC, 350ºF, Gas Mark 4 for 35 - 40 minutes or until cooked through. Allow to cool before slicing.

Toffee Apples Minus The Apple : Sticky Toffee Squares

squares: 16
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cook time:: 40 minutes
150 g pitted dates, roughly chopped
50 g sultanas
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
150 g butter
150 g caster sugar
2 eggs
175 g self-raising flour
180 g Philadelphia Original
2 dsp caramel dulce de leche
25 g walnuts chopped
1.
Preheat the oven 180⁰ C, gas mark 4 and have ready a 22 x 18 x2.5 cm greased and lined baking tin.
2.
Put the dates and sultanas in a saucepan with 250ml water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes to soften. Remove from the heat and stir in the bicarbonate of soda. Leave to cool a little.
3.
Cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs beating well after each addition.
4.
Gently fold in the flour and then stir in the date mixture, including any liquid. Spoon into the prepared tin and bake for 35-40 minutes until well risen and firm to touch. Leave to cool completely before removing from the tin.
5.
To make the toffee frosting, beat the Philly and dulce de leche together. The mixture will thicken as you whisk it. Swirl over the cake and sprinkle with walnuts. Cut into squares.

Boo-tiful Fairy Cakes : Philadelphia with Cadbury Fairy Cakes

portions: 12
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cook time:: 18 minutes
125 g low fat spread
110 g caster sugar
2 eggs
100 g self raising flour
25 g Cadbury cocoa powder
1 tbsp semi skimmed milk
180 g Philadelphia with Cadbury
1.
To make the cakes, beat the low fat spread and caster sugar together until light and fluffy. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time then fold in the flour and cocoa. Fold in the milk.
2.
Line a 12 hole bun tin with paper cake cases. Spoon the mixture into the cases, filling about two thirds full. Bake at 180⁰C, gas mark 4 for about 15-18 minutes or until firm and risen. Leave to cool.
3.
When cooled spread some Philly as frosting over each of the fairy cakes.

Tip: If liked the cup cakes can be individually decorated with edible glitter, silver dragees or crumbled chocolate flake.
