Find Me A Gift Valentines Cookery Blogging Challenge : Wickedly Gooey Chocolate and Pear Delight

I've already shared some of www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk 's quirky and original Valentines Day gifts with you but they're so keen on the big day of romance that they're also hosting a blogging challenge, inviting us all to collectively come up with the ultimate home-cooked three-course meal. I'm therefore sharing a recipe with you for a deliciously decadent but dead easy dessert (and I challenge you to get any more alliterative than that !!) : Wickedly Gooey Chocolate and Pear Delight. If you can imagine a cross between Poire Belle Hélène, Apple Crumble and Peach Cobbler, that'll give you a rough idea.

Wickedly Gooey Chocolate and Pear Delight

Serves 4 (so there will be leftovers, as this is for a romantic dinner for two !)

2 tins pear halves
1 square of chocolate per pear half
 100g self-raising flour
40g sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 pot plain yogurt
4 tablespoons butter, melted

1. Preheat oven to 200°C.

2. Drain the juice from the canned pears. In an ovenproof dish, lay the pears side by side, flat side up. Place one square of chocolate in each pear half (in the hole where the core was). (Choose whichever chocolate you like best - milk or dark.)

3. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, egg, yogurt and butter and gently fold until the ingredients are just combined. Add a spoonful or two of the pear juice if the mixture is too dry.

4. Spoon the mixture over the pears and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until just firm and golden.

5. Leave to cool slightly before serving warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
